Ingredients

  • - 32 oz Greek yogurt
  • - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • - 3–4 tablespoons honey
  • - ½ gallon milk for homemade yogurt
  • - ¼ cup honey for homemade yogurt

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, vanilla extract, and honey. Whisk the mixture until it's smooth and well blended. This will form the base for your flavored yogurt.
  • If you're making homemade yogurt, heat the ½ gallon of milk in a pot until it reaches 180°F. This step is crucial as it kills any existing bacteria that could interfere with the fermentation process.
  • Once the milk has reached 180°F, remove it from heat and allow it to cool down to 110°F. Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature accurately.
  • Once the milk has cooled, add the active yogurt cultures. Stir gently to ensure the cultures are evenly distributed throughout the milk.
  • Pour the mixture into a yogurt maker or a warm, insulated container and maintain a temperature of around 110°F for 6-8 hours. This incubation period is essential for the cultures to ferment the milk into yogurt.
  • After the incubation period, check the yogurt for thickness. If it has reached your desired consistency, transfer it to storage containers and refrigerate. If you prefer it thicker, you can incubate it for a little longer.
  • Once cooled, your Greek vanilla yogurt is ready to be enjoyed! You can serve it as is or with your favorite toppings.
